PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nondestructive evaluation method and an apparatus for evaluating cast iron, which accurately makes decision on the presence or the absence of a chilled structure, a ferritic base or a perlitic base in the cast iron, executes identifying a rate of ferrite/perlite, and can solve a weak point of a conventional nondestructive test by using eddy current. SOLUTION: The nondestructive evaluation method, using eddy current for evaluating the cast iron makes the decision of the presence or absence of the chilled structure, the ferritic base or the perlitic base in the cast iron, and executes identifying the rate of ferrite/perlite, on the basis of the difference between electromagnetic characteristics of the chilled structure or ferrite/perlite phases in the case iron, by using a eddy current signal which represents eddy current.
