PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for detecting external force of a structure body which is easily performed and can detect damaged points, etc., of the structure body. SOLUTION: The detecting apparatus is provided with: a first member 11 of a piezoelectric material which generates a voltage by piezoelectric action when a stress is applied; a flexible and insulating external force responder 1 which comprises a second member 12 that covers the first member 11 and is disposed at the external force detecting point of the structure body; a first conductor member 22a connected electrically to the first member 11; a second conductor member 22b connected electrically to the first member 11; and an ammeter 41 which is fitted to the other ends of the first conductor member 22a and the second conductor member 22b and detects electricity.
