PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device with high credibility with reduced leakage of fuel and processing man-hours without causing upsizing of the device. SOLUTION: Low pressure fuel from a low pressure passage 18 is introduced to a cylinder 14 housing a valve member 40, a communicating port 15 communicating a control chamber 13 with the passage 18, and a hydraulic chamber 52 with variable volume by the expansion and contraction of a piezostack 51. Thus, the fuel leakage from the hydraulic chamber 52 to a surrounding area is prevented and the transfer loss of driving force is reduced. As to the valve member 40, the total sum of the end face area on the port 15 side and that on the different side are about the same. Since the same hydraulic pressure is introduced from the passage 18 to the port 15b and the cylinder 14, the forces applied to the valve member 40 are the same and balanced at both ends in an axial direction.
