PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling an air conditioner are provided for real time control the air conditioner. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus includes a signal input part allowing a user to input alarm control signal; a control part(30) controlling alarm to sound depending on the alarm control signal; a real time clock generator(60d) outputting real time clock wave following control of the control part; and a voice output part outputting alarm signal when alarm control time has been reached following real time control of the rear time clock generator. An EEPROM(Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory:50) is included to temporarily save control signal inputted by the user. A method includes a step determining whether the alarm control signal is preset in an air conditioner if the air conditioner is at initial stage or power is cut and re-supplied during driving; a step controlling in real time following the alarm control signal if the alarm control signal is preset; and a step outputting alarm signal following the alarm control signal.
