PURPOSE: A method for setting video communication in a video communication terminal is provided to realize the video communication through use bandwidth optimized according to video communication set information. CONSTITUTION: A user of a video communication terminal registers video communication set information of each telephone number with the telephone number(S1). If the video communication terminal originates or receives a call signal, a control unit of the video communication terminal detects a caller ID for displaying the same on a display unit(S2-S3). The control unit judges whether the call signal is a video communication signal(S4). If not, a voice call is executed(S5). If so, it is judged whether the caller ID is consistent with a telephone number list(S6). If not, a video call is executed by setting up use bandwidth and colors according to the video call set information(S7). If so, the video communication set information corresponding to the detected call ID is detected(S8). The control unit judges whether the user decides to use the video call(S9). If so, a video communication environment is set up with the use bandwidth and color information according to the detected video communication set information(S10).
