PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for preventing a damage of an anti-overspeed terminal are provided to prevent the overspeed of a vehicle by protecting the anti-overspeed terminal from a driver's intentional action. CONSTITUTION: The first GPS(Global Positioning System) information including the first position of a vehicle is received from an anti-overspeed terminal when the power is turn off(533). The first GPS information is stored in a storage unit(535). The second GPS information including the second position of the vehicle is received from the anti-overspeed terminal when the power is turn on(539). The second GPS information is stored in the storage unit(541). A predetermined range is compared to an interval between the second position and the first position(543). The anti-overspeed terminal is decided as a state of cutoff if the interval between the second position and the first position is more than the predetermined range(545). The decided result is stored in the storage unit(547). The decided result is outputted by a printer(549).
