PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques capable of reducing a memory capacity necessary for processing digital data of a DVD for coding, and also speedily performing the processing for coding. SOLUTION: During the i-th period, a data block DB<SB>i</SB>is inputted from a terminal 6 and IED and EDC are created to be stored in on the surface side of an ID-RAM together with ID or the like, PO code is created by using the scrambled data based on the initial value on the surface side of a scrambler initial value setting circuit, and is stored on the surface side of PO-RAM. A data block DB<SB>i-1</SB>is inputted from a terminal 7 at the same time, and the circuit creates PI codes according to the PO codes from the scrambled data, the data on the backside of ID-RAM, and PO-RAM based on the initial value on the back side of the scrambler initial value setting circuit. During (i+1)th period, a data block DB<SB>i+1</SB>is inputted from a terminal 7 with the surface side and the backside alternated, and the similar processing is repeated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
