PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which is easily fabricated, capable of carrying out high-density recording, and has the storing stability of magnetic recording. SOLUTION: The cylindrical magnetic recording medium is constructed in such a manner that tracks having the arrays of tiny holes in which magnetic substances are embedded are arranged in parallel on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical substrate along the center axis of the cylindrical substrate, and the array of the tiny holes has a center around the center axis of the cylindrical substrate and forms a circular orbit which is a surface vertical to the center axis, or the array of the tiny holes forms a helical orbit around the center axis of the cylindrical substrate. A plurality of longitudinal rows and a plurality of horizontal rows in which the tiny holes intersect each other are formed, and a quadrangle formed by an interection point between the longitudinal row and the horizontal row is square, rectangular or rhombic.
