PURPOSE: A method for assigning a frame memory for half-pel motion compensation is provided to improve speed of an MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) by reducing the number of clock cycles. CONSTITUTION: Burst length is set 2n. With regard to a left (2n+1) x 2n pixel of a reference image, 2n+1 lines are accessed, having 2n data clock cycles. A frame memory transposing the reference image is additionally assigned to a right upper 2n x 1 pixel of the reference image, and one line of a left lower 1 x 2n pixel of the frame memory is accessed, having 2n data clock cycles. A right lower 1 x 1 pixel of the reference image is accessed, having 2n data clock cycles. |
