PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for inspecting a defect of a gripper are provided to produce grippers having superior quality by attaching a gripper defect inspecting device to determine the defect of the grippers. CONSTITUTION: A gripper inspecting apparatus includes a case(12). The case(12) is coupled with a cover guide(13), a gripper guide(14), and a touch block(15). That is, a pair of cover guides(13) and the gripper guides(14) are assembled into a shaft(16) at both sides of the touch block(15). The cover guides(13) and the gripper guides(14) are fixed to the case(12) by means of a nut(18), a washer(17) and a bolt(19). A first signal line(10) is connected to one end of the shaft(16) so as to obtain a detecting signal of the gripper inspecting apparatus. A second signal line is connected to a second roller.
