PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chucking device of a compact structure capable of holding a sufficiently large workpiece by a small driving part. SOLUTION: This chucking device is provided with a pair of arms 1A and 1B provided side by side in the vertical direction, a supporting member 2 for rotatably supporting intermediate positions of the arms 1A and 1B by a shaft body 223, an operating piece 33 provided to advance and retreat between the arms 1A and 1B to hold the workpiece W between holding pieces 11 at lower ends of the arms 1A and 1B by moving lower ends of the arms 1A and 1B in a mutually approaching direction since the operating piece 33 extends a space between the upper ends of the arms 1A and 1B when advancing between the upper ends of the arms 1A and 1B, and a hydraulic cylinder 31 for driving the operating piece 33.
