<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time to be required up to the completion of download of a music file of a regular version after listening to music of a new recording version in a streaming format. <P>SOLUTION: On receiving a music distribution request in a step 304, a distribution server 12 transmits music data of a new recording version of the requested music to a distribution client 22 in the streaming format to reproduce the music data in a step 308 and transmits a music data file of the regular version of the requested music to the client 22 in a step 309. When the transmission of the music data in the streaming format is completed in a step 310 before completing the transmission of the music data file, the server 12 transmits music data of a new recording version of a succeeding piece of music selected by a prescribed rule to the client 22 in the steaming format in a step 308 to reproduce the data in a step 311. When the download of the music data file of the regular version has been completed in a step 312, the client 22 performs suitable purchase processing with the server 12 in steps 315 to 317 and reproduces the file. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
