摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the shortening of a full transmission time and the power saving of a data transmitter by using variable length codes. <P>SOLUTION: In the encoding technique using variable length codes in wireless communication, a transmission time for the high bits of a continuous bit stream such as (N&times;T) expressed in terms of time unit T and a transmission time for the low bits of the continuous bit stream such as (M&times;T) are defined, and a different transmission time is assigned for expressing the high and low bits of the continuous bit stream. Thus, the full data transmission time can be made extremely shorter in the processing of a large amount of digital data as compared with conventional coding techniques. Other advantages include power saving by battery-powered data communication equipment such as peripheral device or mobile unit and more reliable signal synchronization at both ends of a communication link. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
