PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device equipped with a manual focus function capable of improving focusing accuracy, and to provide a focusing situation display method and a program therefor. SOLUTION: The luminance component of a contour part is extracted from the luminance component (Y component) of image data corresponding to an image within a focus frame 121, and the absolute value of the second differential of the luminance component is integrated to calculate a contour component evaluated value, and the distribution graph 122 of a focus lens position and the contour component evaluated value is formed. Next, a subject image and the graph 122 are composed, so that a finder image 20 is displayed. In such a case, the display color of a bar 123 corresponding to a present focus lens position out of bars in the distribution graph is made different from the display colors of other bars.
