PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mount oscillator for prompting miniaturization while protecting an IC chip. SOLUTION: This surface mount crystal oscillator is provided with an oscillator storage part that stores and tightly seals a crystal chip and an element storage part that is constituted by fixing the IC chip to the bottom of a recessed part provided on the bottom side of the oscillator storage part and having an opening by a face down bonding method. In the oscillator, a protection resin layer of the IC chip is formed by charging resin liquid on the bottom of the recessed part, and a projecting hole for charging the resin liquid is juncturally provided in the recessed part of the element storage part.
