PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a video signal with additional information such as characters attached thereto, to allow a user to desirably record the additional information for creating a database and to utilize the created database for deploying it as home shopping or the like. SOLUTION: An additional information decode means M1 separates and extracts an additional information included in an NTSC video signal 10 from the video signal 10 and using additional information write switch means M4 controlled by a prescribed control signal M3 can record/read an additional information code on/from an additional information recording means M5 as required. A conversion means M2 converts the additional information code into characters or the like and outputs them to a signal composite means M7. The signal composite means M7 composes the NTSC video signal 10 and the additional information converted into the characters or the like and outputs the result. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
