PURPOSE: A method for setting a PVC(Permanent Virtual Connection) of a point-to-point low speed subscriber is provided to set the PVC between the low speed subscriber and an ATM exchange subscriber, and to set the PVC between low speed subscribers by using an ATM exchange, thereby supplying an improved service to the low speed subscribers. CONSTITUTION: A system inputs parameters of a subscriber for setting a PVC(S1), and decides whether the inputted parameters are available(S2). If so, the system calls PPCCF(Point to Point PVC Control Software) as a remote procedure(S3). An ADD-PPVC(Add Point to Point PVC) thread decides whether the subscriber is a low speed subscriber(S4). If so, the ADD-PPVC thread is assigned with an originating resource for PVC setting(S5), and is assigned with a receiving resource by requesting the PVC setting to receiving PPCCF(S6), then requests a connection to a corresponding device(S7). Connection information is stored in a database, and an originating side is returned(S8). The system requests a connection setup to a GSMP(General Switch Management Protocol)(S9), and requests a PVC connection setup to an originating device(S10), then stores connected PVC connection setup information in another database(S11).
