The fastener for a hook (17) on the end of a load-retaining strap consists of two U-shaped components (2, 3) with straight cross bars (21) giving each the shape of a greek letter Pi. The two legs of each U-shaped component end in male and female joints connected by pivot pins (8). One end of the fastener is fitted into a side member (10) of the vehicle platform, while the other projects and is shaped to receive a single or double hook, the latter engaging with the projecting ends (12, 13) of the cross bar.
