<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable switching of connection and disconnection of a 2-way clutch not depending on the reaction force of an elastic member to hold a roller in a natural position. <P>SOLUTION: A cylindrical surface is formed on one of opposing faces of an outer ring 6 and an input shaft, and a plurality of cam surfaces 2 which forms a wedge space with the cylindrical surface is formed on the other face. An inside retainer 4 movable only in an axial direction to the input shaft 1 and an outside retainer 5 relatively rotatably only at an angle intrinsic to an amount of movement in an axial direction to the inside retainer 4 are situated between the opposing faces. A roller 3, being the engaging element between the outer ring 6 and the input shaft 1, are incorporated in a pocket of the outside retainer 5. An armature 8 formed integrally with the inside retainer 4 can be axially moved by turning on/off electromagnetic coils 11 and 12 to connect and disconnect the 2-way clutch. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
