PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure the coefficients of viscoelasticity of liquids. SOLUTION: By analyzing the reactive force of a sample liquid to a pair of measuring plates when the sample liquid is filled in a gap between the measuring plates opposed to each other and the size of the gap is periodically altered, the coefficient of viscoelasticity of the sample liquid is measured. Here, the measuring plates measures the size of the gap and are controlled by a servo system. The measuring plates are driven by the amplitude 100 times greater than the measurement resolution of the gap and a frequency of 50 Hz or higher. Since such a servo system has nonlinear output values of a gap sensor to the size of the gap, the output with corrected nonlinearity is used to drive the measuring plates. Since the drive accuracy of the measuring plates is substantially improved by this way, it is possible to accurately measure the coefficient of viscoelasticity of the sample liquid.
