PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for mixture between base metal and slug in an iron industry separating the base metal for recycling from the mixture between the base metal and the slug to a steel manufacturing process, from the slug in a short time suppressing the generation of dust and noise. SOLUTION: This processing method is provided with a first process of taking out the melt mixture between the base metal and the slug from a vessel 11 and separating the base metal therefrom, a second process of separating the base metal from the slug under a high temperature state of 800°C and more and miniaturizing the base metal of a size of a prescribed value or more preset in the base metal into a size of the prescribed value or less, and, as necessary, a third process of recycling the separated base metal into the steel manufacturing process under the high temperature state.
