PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-purity (meth)acrylic acid ester containing no organotin compound by removing the organotin compound from a reaction product after transesterification reaction. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the (meth)acrylic acid ester by transesterifying a raw material (meth)acrylic acid ester with an alcohol in the presence of an organotin compound, the unreacted raw material (meth) acrylic acid ester is separated from the reaction solution of the transesterification reaction, the solution containing the objective (meth)acrylic acid ester is brought into contact with an ion exchange resin in the presence of water and a lower alcohol to provide the method for producing the (meth) acrylic acid ester.
