PURPOSE: A method for diagnosing faults of an output shaft speed sensor of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is provided to prevent the miscalculation for the faults of the output shaft speed sensor that is caused by the noise of the speed sensor and to ensure the safety of the vehicle even if input and output shaft speed sensors break down at the same time. CONSTITUTION: A method for diagnosing faults of an output shaft speed sensor of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is composed of steps of deciding if the vehicle travels forward(S110); performing a control movement for the decision of faults of the output shaft speed sensor if the vehicle is under the forward traveling(S112); detecting the rotational frequencies of a turbine and an engine if the output shaft speed sensor breaks down(S114); and executing a shifting control movement, which is set to the decision of the output shaft speed sensor fault with comparing each set value for the detected rotational frequencies of the turbine and the engine(S116¯S120). |
