<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithographic printing original plate having high recording sensitivity and excellent printing durability (the number of sheets printable) which is directly recordable from digital data of a computer or the like by recording by using a solid laser emitting IR rays or a semiconductor laser. <P>SOLUTION: The plate has an image recording layer containing an IR absorbent expressed by general formula (I) on a hydrophilic supporting body and is recordable with IR laser light.
