<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a random number generating apparatus and method for a game machine resisting illicit access. <P>SOLUTION: The random number generating apparatus for use in the game machine has a random number generating circuit constructed as a hardware circuit for generating random numbers based on M-series method or counter method; a bit scrambling circuit for performing a bit scrambling operation on the random numbers outputted from the random number generating circuit; a maximum random number value comparison circuit for comparing the outputs of the bit scrambling circuit with stored maximum random number values; and a random number value holding circuit for holding the results of comparison made by the maximum random number value comparison circuit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
