<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallax optical device and an autostereoscopic display device with which an observer can determine his position relative to the autostereoscopic display device regardless of a real image currently displayed. <P>SOLUTION: The autostereoscopic display device includes an SLM (spatial light modulator) 2 controlled to provide an image display part and a signal display part. A parallax optical device 3 has a first part which collaborates with the image display part to form a plurality of viewing windows 16. A second part 3a of the parallax optical device 3 forms first and second images visible to an observer at the viewing windows 16 positioned alternately. Therefore, the observer can distinguish from desirable orthoscopic viewing zones 17, 19, and 21 and undesirable viewing positions such as pseudoscopic viewing positions 22 to 25, etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
