<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic EL element of which luminescence characteristics are maintained in a stabilized state over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The organic EL element with a desiccating agent in which growth of a dark spot can be suppressed by providing a water capturing agent layer that captures moisture chemically in a water capturing agent maintenance layer. With respect to the organic EL element which comprises a luminescent part that has a construction in which organic EL material layers are laminated between on opposing pair of electrodes, a glass substrate on which the above luminescent part is arranged, an airtight container by which the above luminescent part is covered and which consists of a sealing cap by which the above luminescent part is sealed in the above glass substrate, and a water capturing means that is provided in an airtight container, the above water capturing means is constituted of the water capturing agent maintenance layer provided on the inside surface of the above airtight container and the water capturing layer provided on the surface of this water capturing agent maintenance layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
