<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a transfer body (transfer belt or the like) is surely cleaned by a cleaning blade and also, the consumption of toner as lubricant is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: The transfer body 9 to transfer an image formed of the toner to a recording material is provided. The cleaning blade 11 arranged so as to come into slidable contact with the transfer body 9 is provided. An electric conductor 7 is arranged at a position opposed to the cleaning blade 11 across the transfer body 9. A controlling means 99 by which the voltage of a polarity reverse to the charge polarity of the toner is applied to the electric conductor 7 in a specific mode in which the toner formed at the transfer body 9 is recovered by the cleaning blade 11 without transferring to the recording material (paper) is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
