<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to display multiple frames of thumbnail images even if an index image display area 40 is limited in size. <P>SOLUTION: The index image display area 40 having a plurality of thumbnail image display areas 41-49 is displayed on a display screen. The further a thumbnail image display area is located in the lateral direction from the center thumbnail image display area 45, the narrower the thumbnail image display area is displayed in width. At the center thumbnail image display area 45, a frame of a thumbnail image i5 is displayed. At the thumbnail display areas 41-44 and 46-49 except the center thumbnail image display area 45, the thumbnail images a1-a4 and a6-a9 are displayed from a part of thumbnail images i1 to i4 and i6 to i9.
