<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system which provides a variety of services by using an electronic program guide (EPG) and encourages the use of such services. <P>SOLUTION: Pressing an EPG key on a remote control outputs EPG-related information accumulated in a RAM onto an image display unit 2. The EPG 50 is displayed on the upper 4/5 portion of the screen of the image display unit 2, with service information displayed in a column 60 on the remaining 1/5 portion. The column 60 displays questionnaire, commercial, commodity sale, and retrieval service; when a user selects a service of one's choice out of these on-screen services, the user can receive that service and, in addition, obtain points set corresponding to each service, thereby encouraging the use of these services. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
