<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved communication method and a system used in a printing system. <P>SOLUTION: The communication method is for checking the operations of the printing system. It includes the steps which specifically in one, a message including data for identifying a plurality of processes related to a corresponding print job and process requirements related to the plurality of processes is transmitted from a data processing unit to the printing system. In another, it is determined whether the printing system is capable of processing the plurality of processes, without printing image data corresponding to the print job.
