PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a positive electrode pellet for an alkali battery which has less silver content and which is superior in a characteristics of service capacity, conductivity and easiness for storage compared to a conventional silver oxide battery. SOLUTION: The pellet for the positive electrode of the alkali battery which has a crystal of chemical compound consisting of Ag, Bi and O (Oxygen) or a crystal of chemical compound consisting of Ag, Bi, M (M indicates a transition metal) and O, and which is molded with fine particles consisting of a particle wherein the Bi disperses in a whole area of the particle. When a mole ratio of Ag/(Bi+M) or Ag/Bi when M is not contained, this pellet shows the mole ratio of Ag/Bi from 1 to 7, an oxygen content at 5% or more by weight, an electrical conductivity at 1×10<SP>-4</SP>s/cm or more and a molding density at 5 g/cm<SP>3</SP>or more.
