PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring the wiring length of a signal line and a new device for identifying a sensor which has transmitted a signal according as the wiring length is measured. SOLUTION: This wiring length measuring device where a signal line is considered as a centralized constant circuit, is constituted of rectangular wave current transmitting means 41 and 42 whose inductance components are limited to a controlling frequency band, a voltage signal receiving means 43 for receiving a voltage signal from the signal line, a peak detecting means 44 for calculating the inductance by detecting the peak value of the received voltage signal, and a converting means 45 for converting the inductance into the wiring length. This device can be applied to a sensor identifying device in a machine security system in which a plurality of sensors are connected through the signal line to a controller. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
