PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cam shaft with high adhesion strength of a cam piece and high productivity. SOLUTION: The cam shaft comprises a shaft member having a gear with a diameter greater than that of a shaft extending in axial direction, formed integrally on one end of the shaft, and a cam piece in cam shape with a press fitting hole for pressing-fit from other end of the shaft of the shaft member. The shaft of the shaft member has a stepped section of which outer diameter is becoming smaller sequentially from the one end or a gear side toward the outer end or an opposite side of the gear side. A plurality of cam pieces having press fitting holes with different diameters, each slightly smaller than that of the stepped section, are press-fitted and fixed from the other end of the opposite side of the gear side.
