The back surface of the liquid crystal display device (D) comprises a partially transparent and reflecting layer (16) that is transparent to light coming from the half-space at the back of the device. Light emitters (20) are interposed between the liquid crystal screen (10) and the partially transparent and reflecting layer (16), which reflects the emitted light radiation. Display device (D) comprises: a liquid crystal screen (10) for presentation of information on a front display region and which has, with respect to the direction of observation (F), a back surface that reflects incident light radiation intercepted by the front display region; and light emitters (20) for illumination of the screen under poor ambient light conditions. The back surface comprises a partially transparent and reflecting layer (16) that is transparent to light coming from the half-space situated at the back of the device. The light emitters (20) are interposed between the screen (10) and the partially transparent and reflecting layer (16) that reflects the emitted light radiation. |
