METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MONITORING STATUS OF POWER CABLE USING HARMONIC WAVE

PURPOSE: A method and a system for monitoring a status of a power cable using a harmonic wave are provided to prevent the accident by monitoring the status change of the power cable using a specific harmonic wave among components of an AC(Alternating Current) frequency flowing on the power cable. CONSTITUTION: A microprocessor(10) controls operation of detecting and determining a degradation of a power cable. Current transformers detect phase currents of A, B, and C phases supplied to a load. A current signal output unit(20) outputs current signals detected by the current transformers. A harmonic wave filtering unit(30) filters a specific harmonic wave component of the current signals from the current signal output unit(20). An amplifying unit(40) amplifies the filtered current signals from the harmonic wave filtering unit(30). An A/D(Analog-to-Digital) convertor(50) converts the amplified analog signals from the amplifying unit(40) into digital signals to transmit them to the microprocessor(10). A display unit(60) displays a degradation status of the power cable under the control of the microprocessor(10). A memory(70) stores an operating program of the microprocessor(10) and data required for determining the degradation status. A comparing unit(80) compares with specific harmonic wave components of the power cable before and after the degradation under the control of the microprocessor(10).
