METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING POWER IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for controlling power in a wireless communication system is provided to efficiently execute power control and to improve the receiving reliability of a power control bit. CONSTITUTION: A base station transmits a reverse power control bit to a terminal through an F-CPCCH(Forward Common Power Control CHannel) at a specific location of periods PCG1, PCG3, PCG5, etc. The terminal, receiving the power control bit transmitted from the PCG1 of the F-CPCCH, measures the receive power or SNR of the received power control bit and compares it with a preset threshold. In case that the measured result is lower than the threshold, the terminal creates a power control bit to direct the base station to increase transmit power. Then the terminal transmits the power control bit at the PCG2 of an R-PCSCH(Reverse Power Control SubCHannel).
