<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup communication system in which host communication equipment can wirelessly communicate with terminal equipment other than an image pickup device in a state of communication-connecting the image pickup device with the host communication equipment by using the image pickup device also as a communication adapter. <P>SOLUTION: A digital camera 10 is connected to a cradle 100 through a signal line. In a first mode, the digital camera 10 forms a transmission line with a personal computer 90 through a USB interface and communication is enabled. In a second mode, the digital camera 10 achieves the mediating function of the communication of a portable telephone 300 and the personal computer 90 through a close radio communication interface and the USB interface. In the first mode, the data of images or the like stored in the memory card 40 of the digital camera 10 are transmitted to the personal computer 90 and the data of the images or the like are transmitted from the personal computer 90 to the digital camera 10.
