<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generating apparatus and an information storage medium for displaying a real map with a small storage capacity. <P>SOLUTION: A prescribed map object (object configuring a map) 50 in which data are stored in a storage means is deformed from an orthogonal coordinate system into an oblique coordinate system by oblique coordinate transformation. Then, a plurality of map objects are obtained from the prescribed map object according to the transformation so that an image including the images of the plurality of map objects can be generated. An angle made by the coordinate axis of the orthogonal coordinate system and the oblique axis of the oblique coordinate system is changed according to an angleθof inclination of a course 40. Parts (supporting pole) 52 configuring the map object 50 are made to always face the vertical direction.
