PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing anα-aminonitrile by which reaction steps are simplified in after-treatment of reaction and the operation for purification or isolation, and theα-aminonitrile is utilized in automatic synthesis or combinatorial chemistry. SOLUTION: A bis(dialkylamino)cyanoborane represented by general formula (1): (R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>N)<SB>2</SB>BCN (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each an aliphatic group) is reacted with a carbonyl compound represented by general formula: R<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>O (wherein, R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each hydrogen, an aliphatic group or an aromatic group, or may form a ring by bonding to each other) in an organic solvent.
