PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for removing scum capable of reducing the quantity of water flowing into a trough to efficiently carry out the inflow of only scum water into the trough, and finely controlling the dam and the overflow of the scum water. SOLUTION: The apparatus 20 for removing the scum comprises: a trough 22 into which scum water 14 containing the scum flows; a swing dam 24 provided on the inflow opening 27 of the scum water 14 formed on the side wall face of the trough 22, formed in a size roughly corresponding to an inflow opening area, and damming and overflowing the scum water 14 to the trough 22 by longitudinally swinging on its lower end part; and swing dam driving means 40 for swinging the swing dam 24, wherein on the side wall face of the trough 22, a pair of first side plates 31 and 31 protruded from either side of both end parts of an inflow opening 27 in a swing direction of the swing dam 24 is provided, and also on either side of both end parts of the swing dam 24, a pair of second side plates 26 and 26 sliding to the first side plates 31 and 31 when the swing dam 24 is swung is provided.
