Circular knitting machine (1) comprising a frame (2), at least a cylindrical needle bed (4) turnably mounted onto said frame (2) for manufacturing a knitted fabric and operating with continuous motion and with alternating motion, a plurality of yarn feeders (5), at least a bar (11) for picking up yarn during the alternating motion of the machine (1), operatively arranged between at least a yarn feeder (5) and at least a feeding device (6). Said bar (11) is provided with at least a hole (12) for the yarn and moves on a path between a yarn processing position and a yarn picking-up position. The machine further comprises elastic means (15) for pushing said bar (11) to said picking-up position, control means (9) of the knitting machine (1) and means (17) for checking the position reached by said bar (11) in said picking-up position.
