1,215,509. Resilient cellular laminate. P. E. E. J. BOGAERT. 2 Oct., 1968 [11 Oct., 1967], No. 46787/68. Heading B5N. A laminated sealing material comprises at least two resilient cellular layers which are in contact along an undulating cross-section, one layer being closed-cell and the other open-cell, and the closed-cell layer being of higher resistance to compression than the open-cell layer. Two closed-cell layers may enclose an open-cell layer. The open-cell may comprise polyurethane and the closed-cell layer may comprise foam rubber, polyethylene, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene or polyester. The layers may contact along a sinusoidal or crenellated cross-section: in one embodiment an open-cell layer is disposed between two closed-cell layers, both crosssections being sinusoidal and 90 degrees out of phase. Under compression, the thinner portions of the open-cell layer are less compressed and able to transmit moisture.
|
