<p>A compact security lock has a metal housing containing a spring loaded cable reel (6) and with a locking head (12) on the free end of the cable (4). The locking head is pressed into a locking hole in the lock housing and is secured by key operated catch (5). The locking hole has a spring loaded ball bearing (9) which grips a retaining groove in the locking head. The front of the head has a wider flange which is secured by the locking catch, which also locks the cable reel. The key operated lock has three positions; an open setting in which the locking head is released and the cable reel is free, an intermediate position in which the locking head is secured and the cable reel is free to pull in any slack in the cable, and a closed position where the locking head and cable reel are secured. The lock can be small enough to be carried in a pocket.</p> |
