Torque measurement device (1) comprises: a drive shaft (2); a sliding collar (8) that is mounted on the shaft so that it slides up and down and has helical teeth (10) on its outer surface to mesh with a drive element; a spring arrangement for centering the sliding collar; and at least a measurement sensor (13, 16) for measuring the axial displacement of the collar, with the axial displacement indicative of the torque. The invention also relates to a corresponding motor vehicle power steering system with an inventive torque measurement device.
