The forming collar to produce three-sided sealed edge plastic bags consists of a former (1) in which extends a through-channel (2) for the plastic film. At the front, the channel is bounded by two covers, the forming edges of which define a wedge-shaped cut-out (9) changing into a slot (8) which has film guiding surfaces. The channel rear wall from the film inlet edge (3), and/or the inner faces of the channel covers in the film passage direction and from the channel side regions to the end of the slot, are formed approximately asymptotically.
