The lighter (1) has a movable tool (5) for cutting through a cigarette. A cigarette for cutting through is inserted in a through-hole (6) in the housing (3) of a cutting device (2), and the tool is integrated in a guide in the housing and can move translationally over the opening cross section of the through-hole at right angles to it. The inside diameter of the through-hole in a cutting zone for the cigarette conforms to the outside diameter of a cigarette in such a way that the cigarette during cutting is supported in the cutting zone and prevented from deforming.
