It is intended to provide a gene which is widely usable in studies on tolerant rice blast fungus Pyricularia oryzae, etc. A gene encoding the following protein (a) or (b): (a) A protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2. (b) A protein comprising an amino acid sequence derived from the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2 by deletion, substitution or addition of one or more amino acids and showing a scytalone dehydrogenase activity in the presence of a scytalone dehydrogenase inhibitor.
