A gasket is provided to seal a bonding surface by mounting the gasket between a cylinder block and a cylinder head and engaging the gasket with an engaging bolt. A gasket includes a metal substrate(1) and a shim plate(4) stacked around a hole of a combustion chamber of the substrate. A substrate bead(3) is formed in the substrate along the circumference of the hole of the combustion chamber. The shim plate has a size opposed to a first flattened section(B1), a substrate bead forming position(A), and a second flattened section(B2) in the substrate. A plurality of groups of auxiliary beads(5a) is formed at positions opposite to the first substrate of the shim plate. The shim plate is made of a pair of plate by connecting adjacent shim plates through a connection unit to be easily assembled for each combustion hole(2).
