A mobile terminal and a method for speedily executing a menu therein are provided to save time by directly and rapidly executing a desired menu without the necessity of passing through many stages and to execute quickly the desired menu without unnecessarily consecutive input. A mobile terminal comprises a key input part(110), a memory(120), a display part(130), and a control part(140). The key input part(110), as a user interface, has a plurality of number keys and function keys, and outputs key signals to the control part(140). The memory(120) stores a program to control the overall operation of the mobile terminal and various data inputted and outputted when the control operation of the mobile terminal is executed. Also the memory(120) stores the menu tree of the mobile terminal. The display part(130) displays an upper menu having one or more lower menus. If a key input signal generated from the key input part(110) is maintained during more than a certain time when an upper menu is displayed, the control part(140) drives an application corresponding to a lower menu appointed to the highest priority among the lower menus stored in the memory(120).
